PGA Tour needs a true playoff

Over the weekend, Phil Mickelson won the "Tour Championship" yet Tiger Woods won the Fed Ex cup, all in one weekend. This is what's wrong with the PGA's playoff system. No one wants to celebrate a 2nd place finish in a tournament, but Tiger did because he finished with the most points and earned the Fed Ex Cup. So While Phil actually won the tournament, Tiger also won by finishing 2nd. Plain old stupid. The PGA tour needs a real playoff, with a SINGLE champion crowned at the end. I suggest a single elimination match play tournament over a few weeks. Match play is so fun to watch, would bring in big sponsors and spectators to increase revenue as well. The final match should be 36 holes, a true mental and physical test. Thats just my 2 cents. I had to let it out. One love.

MN Vikings 3-0

The Minnesota Vikings continued their win streak on Sunday in a very tough game vs Mike Singletary's 49ers (a great team I might add). MN pulled off a miracle with a few seconds left in the game on Sunday. Favre's 40 year old legs made a couple moves left, then right, then he stepped up and threw a laser toward the end zone, not knowing who was there or what would happen. Veteran Greg Lewis made a spectacular catch floating to the right. He kept his feet in bounds, and scored the game winning TD. You can watch the catch on Ken Inc. In my opinion, the Vikings shouldn't have needed to make the drive to score with less than two minutes remaining in the game. Part of it was the 49ers defense, and part was the lack of Vikings offense. There was a blocked field goal for a score, and a speedy Percy Harvin return for a TD. Other than that, there wasn't a ton of offense in this game. Favre looked good and bad. AP got "shut down." in addition, Frank Gore - the 49ers only real offensive threat was sidelined after his first run. Either way, Minnesota snagged another win to open the dome. Next up, Vikings vs Packers in a Monday Night Rivalry. I can't wait.

Brett Favre is either incredibly stupid, or incredibly smart.

I mentioned this commercial in a previous post. If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. You'll love it. I guarantee it.

Pigskin Weekend a Success in MN

The bank is open, and Favre looks great in purple. What a weekend it was for Minnesota football. First, the golden gophers open their new stadium with a victory over Air Force. What a relief to see the gophers pick up a "W" in their homecoming game. They needed to make a statement. The statement they made is no opponent is going to come into MN and rob our bank. I stole that line from someone else, but I like it; I like it a lot. Not only will the new stadium give the already great gopher football program a lift, it has done wonders for the community and the state of Minnesota. Not to mention the excitement it provides football fans like me. Next is the Vikings. Favre picks up a win, thanks to Adrian Peterson's 180 beastly yards and a very man-like 3 TD's. Looks like my predictions for AP this year are right on track. Favre looked ok on Sunday, but the fact is that the Vikings are a run first football team. Therefore Favre really wont need to throw the ball 20-25 times. All of which is a recipe for success. I seriously see the Vikings playing in the NFC championship game. Not sure about the Superbowl at this point. I need to see more games to determine the likelihood of that. But for now I am in love with MN football.

You CAN spell wolves without Rubio

It's official. Ricky Rubio will not be joining the Timberwolves for at least two years. With that said, questions regarding David Kahn's intelligence are now answered. Kahn's back to back PG picks in the NBA draft had everyone wondering if he is really really dumb, or really really smart. It turns out that he is really really smart. Since the departure of Kevin McHale, the wolves have been looking and sounding better with every decision. Even without Rubio, I see the wolves having a productive season. A re-vamped team from the roster to personnel means an exciting team to watch this season. First game is October 28th, and you know I'll be ready.
